Visual Process

In a lean operation, it is critical that the flow of product, as well as the various production cells and processes, be clearly identified.

In addition to allowing visitors, contractors and management to more quickly orient themselves within the work environment, this can also greatly assist plant engineering and maintenance personnel.

For example, labeling pipes with flow direction and to/from information simplifies tracing the lines when modifications or servicing are required. Likewise labeling upstream and downstream components on the electrical system speeds troubleshooting and ensure that the equipment is properly de-energized during shutdowns.
